BIOGRAPHY
Philip Lawlor Managing Director, Research & Analytics
Philip joined FTSE Group as Managing Director, Research & Analytics in January 2012. Philip’s remit includes expanding the analytical output from FTSE.
With more than 25 years of investment experience and around 18 years on the ‘buy side’, Philip has worked in a variety of roles ranging from portfolio management, running several unit trusts and balanced funds, as Head of International Equities and most recently as Chief Investment Strategist at Smith & Williamson.
Philip has garnered significant experience in stock and sector selection as well as multi-asset tactical asset allocation utilising various investment disciplines, such as quantitative techniques, technical and fundamental analysis.
In addition to the aforementioned experience, Philip has also spent 7 years in the ‘sell side ‘environment within an international role at Nomura as an Investment Strategist. During his time at Nomura, Philip was responsible for frequent idea generation and produced regular research reports and conducted numerous presentations to a pan Europe client base.
Philip is a regulator commentator on the media circuit and has made frequent appearances on financial media such as CNBC and Bloomberg TV. In his spare time, Philip enjoys going to the gym, walking, reading about history and playing (social) tennis.
